Sri Lanka’s Gateway group plans Colombo Port City school with British partner

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Gateway education group plans a school in the China-backed Colombo Port City with a British partner the country’s High Commission in London quoted its chairman Harsha Alles as saying.

Sri Lanka High Commission in London in partnership with the CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd and Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council had organized a forum to showcase investment opportunities in finance and education at the Colombo Port City.

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom Saroja Sirisena said the the education sector in Sri Lanka which has a structure and framework in line with British education system which has strengthened the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

She had invited British companies to partner in education in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Chair of the Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council (CWEIC) Sir Hugo Swire had urged the British companies to collaborate with and invest in Sri Lanka.

CWEIC would work closely work with Sri Lanka to get investment, he had said.

Assistant Managing Director of the CHEC Port City Colombo Thulci Aluwihare had updated the progress of the Port City construction saying it is the only waterfront planned city with modern facilities in Asia.
