Fuel, gas distribution temporarily suspended in Sri Lanka amid curfew
ECONOMYNEXT – Fuel and gas distribution has been temporarily halted and no distribution of fuel will happen without security ensured, the Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association (SLPPTOA) said.
The joint secretary of the association, Shantha Silva, said only essential places will get fuel under protection.
“From Monday evening due to the situation in the country the distribution of fuel has been temporarily suspended,” Silva told reporters on Wednesday (11).
“Only around 20-30 trucks are being filled and parked, and fuel will be provided only for essential service and that, too, under security,” he said.
“Due to security reasons, other fuels are not being distributed.”
The state owned Litro Gas has also stopped distributing cooking gas to dealers due to the ongong curfew since violent riots that erupted on Monday (09). (Colombo/May11/2022)
