ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s main stock index gained over to 2-percent in mid-day trade on Thursday (27) for the second session this week on bargain hunting.
The main index moved up 2.24 percent or 196.69 points to 8,799.66 at 1200 hours.
The most liquid indexes gained 2.70 percent or 70.38 points to 2,678.53.
A market analyst said although the market is gaining, it is on bargain hunting with investors buying into beaten-down assets.
The market generated a turnover of 1.0 billion rupees, which is less than the average daily turnover of 3.2 billion rupees generated this year.
Top gainers were Aitken Spence, LOLC and Browns Investment. (Colombo/Oct27/2022)
