Sri Lanka lifts curfew from 0700h to 1400h on May 12

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka will lift curfew from 0700 am on May 12 Thursday to 0200pm, the Presidents office said.

Curfew will be re-imposed at 1400hours and will remain until 0600am on May 13.

Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne earlier Wednesday was calm and except for a few minor incidents.

He called on people to be calm.

Police headquarters said Wednesday all stations have been given orders to shoot those causing harm to persons, property or searches vehicles with intention to harm.

Gunarane said some vigilante groups had blocked the airport road and were searching cars with clubs in hand.
