As we feature, Teacher Tributes this month in the lead up to World Teacher Appreciation Day, we are delighted to bring you this post. From student to Teacher / Chaplian and current Head Master of STC Prep, Reverend Dushantha Lakshman Rodrigo has been appointed, Bishop of Colombo,

Warden of S. Thomas’ College, the Rev. Marc Billimoria said “It is a matter of great pride and joy for all of us connected with S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia that 169 years after the first Bishop of Colombo founded and opened our College, that one of her sons, the Reverend Dushantha Lakshman Rodrigo has become the first ever Thomian to be elevated to the episcopate in the history of our College and the Church of Ceylon.

Dear Reverend Dushantha

It is with great joy and pride that I on behalf of S. Thomas’ College Old Boys’ Association of New South Wales and ACT in Sydney Australia, wish to congratulate you on your appointment as the next Bishop of Colombo.

Your appointment is singularly significant as you will be the first Thomian to hold this high office. All Thomians will hail this honour with joy and dignity.

We are acutely aware that your role of Leadership and Shepherding the Church during the current very uncertain and unsettling times will be challenging. But, with GOD’s grace and strength we trust that you will overcome and be a light, a witness and a divine influence to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Our fraternity here in Sydney will support you in all you have planned for this high office and look towards revitalisation and reconciliation within the Church, a thriving and expanding atmosphere in all campuses of S.Thomas’ and for a peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you prepare for your consecration and look to the future of leading the Church in Sri Lanka.

Esto perpetua and GOD bless.

Kulasiri Jayasinghe

President
